What's in the Bag?

The book I am currently reading is The Kid by Sapphire. This book is an exciting page turner. The moment you begin reading you are thrust into our protagonist world of violence, confusion and abandonment, however the despair stops there. We follow Abdul Jones the son of "Precious" who is the lead character in Sapphire's 1st book "Push,"which was fairly recently made into the Lee Daniels Directed feature film tilted "Precious". Abdul proves to be a survivor from the moment he is born, beating the odds and showing that no matter what obstacles life will throw at you, if you hold onto faith and reach for life's treasures you will remain victorious. Sapphire has an authentic writing style that makes each character and situation come alive. The details in which she uses to describe everything from environment, character analysis and vernacular showcase her relatable writing style. Here's hoping The Kid will make  it to the big screen just like its Mother did.

  1. I'll have to check this out! Read Push already and didn't even know that there was a sequel.
