The opening night performance of A Street Car Named Desire on Broadway was a star studded event,not just on the stage, but in the audience as well. Nicole Ari Parker leads A-list cast starring Blair Underwood,Daphne Rubin-Vega and Wood Harris with an incredible supporting ensemble. Every cast member does an outstanding job in this production. Nicole Ari Parker's as Blanche DuBois is spellbinding. Parker's performance,no doubt should earn her at least a 2012 Tony Award nomination ,for Best Actress In A Play. Nominations are officially announced May 1,2012.
A few stars In the audience were: Debbie Allen,Harry Belafonte,Boris Kodjoe,Beau Bridges,Terrence Blanchard,Tracy Edmonds,Giancarlo Esposito,Al Roker,Deborah Roberts,Tamara Tunie,Michael C.Hall,Adriane Lenox,Norm Lewis,Jay Manuel,Wendell Pierce,Kenya Moore,Marcus Samuelsson,Tanya Pinkins,Deion Sanders,Jocelyn Taylor, Melvin Van Peebles and Cicely Tyson all were on hand to show their support for this production.
It seemed direction I turned there was another star in the vicinity.I could not believe my eyes and felt honored to view this masterpiece in such great company.
